About
Jim Morton is a 5th generation Montana Rancher with a passion for photography and documenting the ranching lifestyle. He is a descendant of a commercial family ranch on his mother’s side, which was established in 1910, near Willow Creek, MT. His father’s family initially raised commercial cattle near Bozeman and Three Forks, MT. His grandfather transitioned that ranch into a registered Red Angus operation in 1985.
When Jim is not working cattle or putting up hay, he can be found behind the lens, capturing the essence of a working day on his family’s ranch. People say that they can feel the emotion of Jim’s photos through his use of lighting and composition. His images transcend modern day and take many to a past memory, while giving others that may not have grown up on a working cattle ranch, the feeling that they might have actually been there.
